  1. Huh. According to leaks, a pretty big chunk came from U.S. donors. After that, I would’ve assumed people from Alberta and Saskatchewan would have given the most donations. That’s a lot of money coming from B.C.!
  2. I think most provinces in Canada will end up saying the same thing. It's basically just passing the buck onto municipalities or individual business owners, because the provincial/state governments don't want people to be mad at them anymore Anti-vax types are going to get real cranky if certain places still ask for proof of vaccination even after the government stops mandating it. Hopefully it doesn't create more divisions within communities
  3. Yup, that's pretty much all that any of us can do. I'm happy to continue wearing a mask regularly even if other people don't want to anymore, and if I don't feel great about going somewhere (crowds and all that) then I just won't go.
  4. I haven’t been following things too closely except for what I hear on the CBC radio news when I’m driving. Somehow they have not mentioned anything about Ram Ranch Kudos to these folks for messing with these dummies in the convoy. Cops aren’t doing shit so it’s time for everybody else to do something about it.
  5. We're all gonna get there eventually I guess, so maybe it won't hurt to get a head-start. Out in the open air, I've never bothered to wear a mask. Seems unnecessary. Maybe in a big crowd? But even pre-pandemic, I avoid crowds and large groups, so I'd never find myself in that situation anyways Indoors, I think it's probably reasonable to forgo a mask if you keep a good distance from other people. Like, at my company's warehouse, we've got about 15 staff in a very large shop. The Health & Safety rep doesn't give them a hard time if they pull their mask down when working independently. There's tons of space. But when a few guys are working close together on something, they're expected to wear a proper mask. Recently I've been seeing the odd person going around the grocery store without a mask on. Looks kinda weird at first because I haven't seen that in while, but it doesn't really bother me. I'm happy to keep wearing my mask though.
  6. Ontario will soon be dropping proof of vaccination requirements and most capacity restrictions. I think that will be fine. The percentage of the population with two doses of the vaccine is pretty respectable. And they've said that masking isn't going anywhere just yet. That would be premature. I certainly won't mind not having to show my proof of vaccination when I want to get into places. It's kind of just a nuisance. I have no patience or tolerance left for the people protesting against vaccine and public health mandates though. Just cut it out already...
  7. Been a while since I bumped this thread… The situation with COVID is much improved… Now the problem is the people protesting against vaccine mandates and other things Anti-mandate protest outside B.C. high school leads to confrontation, protester hurling insults at student
  8. Over 9000 cases reported today in Ontario. We’re blowing precious record highs out of the water right now… Fun times.
  9. I'm beginning to feel a little more worried about the COVID thing again because of what's happening with omicron I thought I got off this rollercoaster ride a while back... Numbers are going pretty crazy here in Ontario.
  10. I'm not old (or essential) enough to be eligible for a booster yet
  11. Yeah I'm very curious if there is security camera footage. It will be kinda funny if it was some cranky old boomer, like a 75 year old who doesn't look like they could throw a rock across the room, much less through a window.
  12. Some rocks were tossed through windows at a local pharmacy and restaurant the other day. They had anti-vaccine logos painted on them (like the 'no smoking' logo but with a needle instead of a cigarette) and some well-thought-out slogans like: "Fuck you commie", "Snake oil", and "Card carrying commie" I guess somebody was angry because they were asked to show proof of vaccination... what a stupid world we live in
  13. That is terrible news. I don’t even know what to say anymore… I’m very sorry for your loss.
  14. Oh yeah, Alberta needs external help for sure. I saw in the news a week or so ago that BC already said they cannot help with ICU space, and Alberta's other neighbour (Saskatchewan) is doing no better. They might be medevac'ing patients from Alberta to Ontario. When Ontario was hurting really bad during one of the previous waves, other provinces gave us support... so I guess we have to return the favour now. Meanwhile, over in Quebec, thousands of nurses could be suspended on Oct. 15th for refusing to get vaccinated. Not sure how their healthcare system is going to manage losing that many nurses all at once. Fun times! The situation isn't so bad in Ontario right now... but I can only imagine what things could be like if/when it gets worse again.
  15. They’re still struggling out in Western Canada. Government still isn’t doing a heck of a lot in response
  16. To be fair to yer friend, I think there are plenty of very reasonable, pro-vaccine women out there that are reluctant to take the vaccine during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. People want to see more evidence that the vaccine will not somehow negatively impact the babies. There hasn't been enough time to study that yet, I don't think. People are being told it's safe for pregnant women, but I can understand why they might want to scrutinize that more carefully.
  17. Want us to send you some ivermectin? j/k get better soon dude. Scotch always makes me feel nice when I’m sick. Try that
  18. That must be a bit frustrating. Did they not want to get vaccinated, or they just never got around to getting it..?
  19. Man, that really sucks. I hope your mum will pull through.
  20. They’ve done that with Doug Ford the last couple campaigns, but I didn’t realize they would do that with Kenney too. I’m not sure how much Doug Ford would help or hurt anyway. Ontario voters tend to like different parties in the provincial and federal governments. Maybe we think that balances things out somehow Ford’s PC’s are in control at Queen’s Park, so people are likely to lean Liberal in this election (based on historical data). Just let Dougie loose and see what happens
  21. There hasn't been a dramatic spike in COVID cases in Ontario yet, thankfully. 7-day average is 723 according to the chart on Google, which could be worse. The line isn't going straight up. Out in Alberta they are fairing much worse. Turns out that getting rid of COVID protocols and then basically doing nothing is not a good plan. Seems like the Alberta Premier has been in hiding for a while or something. No leadership. The guy is pretty much useless. I thought we all knew that already from his time in Stevie Harper's government, but the dummies in Alberta voted for him anyhow... glhf
  22. The number of cases reported in Ontario are climbing daily, slow and steady Still not out of control yet, but not a good direction to be heading in. School starts the day after Labour Day too. I really need the schools to stay open all year this year 🙏
  23. I never heard about the Ivermectin thing until I read these posts. Wow I guess it’s only a thing in the USA… I don’t think anybody is using that stuff (on humans) up here. Maybe Special K would work better. They use that stuff on horses too. K-Hole the coronavirus
